Abstract

Collaboration has emerged as a key strategy for libraries to overcome resource constraints, improve service delivery, and meet the evolving needs of user communities. This research examines the applicability of two globally recognised toolkits—”SCONUL Shared Services: A Toolkit for Library Collaboration” and the “Public Library School and Library Collaboration Toolkit”—within the socio-cultural and institutional context of West Bengal, India. By analysing the core principles and practices outlined in these toolkits, this study evaluates their adaptability to the region’s unique challenges, including resource limitations, administrative frameworks, and diverse user needs. The findings highlight the potential of these models to enhance library collaboration in West Bengal, providing actionable recommendations for stakeholders to implement sustainable and context-sensitive strategies.
