Webometric Analysis of Top Ten Asian and Indian Universities:An Analytical Overview

The paper tries to assess all the existing ranking systems which are used to rank higher educational institutions. The aim of the paper is to provide sufficient background to design and develop a new ranking system for a country. An attempt has been taken to find out the reasons of low ranking of Indian universities with respect to the world university ranking through webometric analysis of top ten Indian and Asian universities. A comparative study of top Ten Indian Universities and Asian universities is made with respect to significant web indicators, which are frequently used in ranking purpose. The results found that there is a significant difference of values of webpages, backlinks, rich files, Google Scholar and research publications between these top Ten Asian Universities and Indian universities.Downloads
